Sequent Energy Management and its parent company, Southern Company, fully support and encourage both individual and corporate efforts to give back to the communities where we live and serve. We show our dedication and corporate citizenship through grants, community outreach programs and other corporate charitable giving programs.
Serving Houston: We’re providing 600,000 meals to Houston area families in need after Winter Storm Uri
Winter storm Uri greatly impacted Texas, including Houston and the 18 counties in southeast Texas served by the Houston Food Bank, leaving people without power and water during a time when many are still struggling with the impact of the pandemic. Citizens have turned to organizations like the Houston Food Bank for assistance, and generous support from the community has allowed the non-profit organization to provide food for better lives in this time of uncertainty.
Sequent Energy Management and the Southern Company Gas Charitable Foundation together donated a total of $200,000 to Houston Food Bank to assist with Winter Storm Uri recovery. Every dollar donated to Houston Food Bank provides three meals, so this donation will provide 600,000 meals to Houston families.
2019 Promise Ball
Sequent Energy Management has been a long-standing supporter of JDRF Houston Gulf Chapter. We were proud to attend the 2019 Promise Ball. Funds of more than $1.9 million dollars were raised in support of their mission to fund innovative research, advocate for government action and provide a support for the community of those fighting type 1 diabetes.
Today's Harbor for Children
Sequent Energy Management is proud to be a sponsor benefiting the mission of Today’s Harbor for Children. Sequent’s contribution of $10,000 will directly support the Harbor’s initiatives to provide comprehensive residential care for children and families in crisis. Through its programs, the Harbor strives to help children to learn to overcome domestic hardships, develop social skills, and make a healthy transition from childhood to adulthood in society. Sequent is honored to be a long-time advocate of Today’s Harbor for Children as helping children is one of the cornerstones of our philanthropic values.
Lone Star College Foundation
Bob Hayes, Sequent Energy Management COO, presented a $2000 grant to Lone Star College Foundation for a freshman composition course that focuses on partnering with local non-profit organizations to promote civic engagement. Students will be assigned to work directly with a chosen non-profit organization to determine which needs can be met with the grant funding. The course provides a hands-on educational experience to help students understand the necessity of getting involved with local charities to improve their community.
Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston
Sequent Energy Management is proud to partner with Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston through its corporate work-study program, which provides an opportunity for students to receive a university-preparatory education while getting real-world work experience. Cristo Rey Jesuit (CRJ) students spend one to two days each week at Sequent and the salaries they earn pay for a portion of their school tuition. The program, which Sequent has supported since 2012, has been widely popular with students and employees and continues to be a foundation of our community involvement.
