Kathryn L. McCoy

Associate General Counsel, Pipeline Investments and Commercial Businesses

Kathryn McCoy serves as the associate general counsel responsible for managing Southern Company Gas’ legal affairs associated with its pipeline investments and commercial businesses, including Sequent Energy Management, Golden Triangle Storage, Central Valley Gas Storage and Pivotal LNG.

McCoy joined Southern Company Gas in April 2007 with more than 20 years of an accomplished career as a regulatory attorney in the energy law industry.

As an associate general counsel for Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (formerly GulfTerra Energy Partners, L.P.), she gained experience with energy regulation, energy marketing, as well as mergers and acquisitions. She also served as the director of regulatory retail and senior counsel for Kinder Morgan, Inc., where she managed the retail regulatory department that oversaw rate cases and regulatory filings. Prior to that position, McCoy served as staff attorney in the Office of General Counsel for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

McCoy is a member of the Energy Bar Association and the State Bar of Kentucky.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and her juris doctor degree from the University of Louisville’s Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.

McCoy is a member of the United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society and Women’s Leadership Initiative. She is also a member of the Women’s Energy Network of Houston.

McCoy and her family reside in Houston, Texas.
