AGL Resources Names Ronald L. Lepionka Vice President And Controller - Sequent Diversified Business Group

ATLANTA, GA (July 11, 2002) - AGL Resources (NYSE: ATG) announced today that Ronald L. Lepionka has joined the company as vice president and controller of the company's nonregulated division, Sequent Diversified Business Group, based in Houston.
Lepionka will be responsible for financial administration, budgeting and forecasting for AGLR subsidiaries Sequent Energy Management, the company's asset optimization business, and AGL Networks, the company's last-mile telecommunications business. In addition to these responsibilities, Lepionka will provide financial and accounting oversight of the company's investment interests in SouthStar Energy Services LLC and Heritage Propane LLP.
"Ron's depth of financial experience will be extremely valuable in strengthening our organization and sharpening our ability to manage our financial assets in a rapidly changing energy marketplace," said Richard T. O'Brien, executive vice president and chief financial officer of AGL Resources.
Lepionka comes to AGL Resources from Mirant Corporation, where he served as vice president and controller of Mirant Americas. At Mirant he was responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the external reporting of financial and statistical information; ensuring appropriate financial controls within the business; and developing accounting policy and strategy. He brings to AGLR significant experience in developing and implementing financial and accounting policies for asset optimization and energy marketing businesses, having served as operational controller for Mirant Americas Energy Marketing, where he oversaw the energy marketing accounting operations.
Lepionka's professional experience also includes monitoring compliance with risk management policies and procedures, calculating and assessing daily portfolio positions, and analyzing market price movements in the energy sector. Prior to joining Mirant, he served as the director of accounting and planning for CNG Energy Company's independent power and natural gas liquids businesses.
