Marshall Lang Named Gulf Coast Region JDRF Director of the Year
Marshall Lang, senior vice president, Marketing, Sequent Energy Management, was honored as “Director of the Year” for the Houston Gulf Coast Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation earlier this month.
A board member of the Houston Gulf Coast Chapter, Marshall chaired the JDRF’s annual “Walk to Find a Cure” in 2009, which raised more than $1.6 million. Marshall also recruited other Houston corporations to support the walk, boosting donations to the JDRF.
Sequent, Pivotal Energy Development and Compass Energy Services raised $125,000 for the JDRF. More than 250 employees, friends and families of Sequent participated in the 2009 walk.
The inspiration behind Marshall’s involvement in JDRF is his young son, Ethan, who has juvenile diabetes. According to the JDRF, juvenile or Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which a person's pancreas produces little or no insulin, a hormone that regulates the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood. People with type 1 diabetes must inject insulin several times every day.
Sequent Energy Management will serve as the “Presenting Sponsor” for the 2010 walk on Nov. 6.
