Sequent Energy Management’s Accounting, Reporting and Credit groups comprise the “back-office”. These functions support the commercial operations of the organization by ensuring that the financial records are maintained and reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), adequate credit is granted to financially stable counterparties and funds are disbursed and received accurately and efficiently. The “back-office” team is responsible for the following functions, critical to the on-going success of the organization:
- Settlements personnel invoice our counterparties for all physical and financial transactions, reconcile/resolve pricing and volumetric discrepancies and ensure that the appropriate funds are transferred to, or received from, our counterparties on a monthly basis.
- Volume Actualization personnel are responsible for reconciling all volumetric activity in Sequent’s Energy Trading and Risk Management system to actual pipeline statements, resolve unaccounted for volumes and ensure that funds are disbursed appropriately to settle all transportation invoices from our pipeline counterparties on a monthly basis.
- Gross margin accounting and general ledger personnel maintain our financial records in accordance with GAAP , facilitate the monthly close procedures in order to ensure the accuracy of Sequent’s financial statements, interact with external and internal auditors, serve as a resource to commercial operations in reviewing new transactions and providing the appropriate accounting guidance to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis personnel are responsible for preparing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining annual budgets and periodic forecasts of business results, and performing a variety of ad-hoc financial analyses of past results and future opportunities.
- Credit personnel are responsible for conducting financial statement analysis in efforts to determine the creditworthiness and extension of credit facilities to new and existing counterparties, providing risk mitigation recommendations to specific transactions, and monitoring the ongoing credit exposure with Sequent’s trading and marketing counterparties.
