
Marshall Lang
Vice President, Origination
Marshall D. Lang was named vice president, origination, for Sequent Energy Management in December 2005. He brings over 25 years of diversified industry experience, which spans both regulated and non-regulated areas of energy, to the position and has already held a number of start-up and key leadership positions.
Lang joined Sequent in 2002 and worked in the affiliate offices of Virginia Natural Gas before relocating to Houston in late 2005. He began his natural gas career at Columbia Gas Transmission in Charleston, West Virginia, eventually becoming senior marketing account executive in 1987. Lang left Columbia in early 1991 to join Coastal Gas Marketing Corporation in Newport News, Virginia, then returned in early 1993 to lead the marketing efforts of Columbia’s newly established non-regulated marketing company, Columbia Energy Services, based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was named vice president of marketing in 1994 and served as VP and general manager of Columbia Energy Services’ Major Accounts Business Unit from 1997 to 1999. Then, nearly 20 years after first joining Columbia Gas Transmission, Lang returned as vice president of marketing and volume management, a position that he held until 2002.
In his time with Sequent, Lang has initiated origination efforts and expanded asset management services to affiliate and non-affiliate utilities and gas clients in the mid-Atlantic. He also serves on the board of directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Tidewater Chapter.
Lang earned a bachelor’s degree from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, where he double-majored in managerial economics and management / computer science.
